Glock-manufactured handguns are used mostly by the U.S. military or police forces. Although there are different types of Glocks, there is a universal way to disassemble them.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure the Glock is unloaded: Press the magazine catch and remove the magazine. Then pull the slide back, make sure there is no ammunition in the chamber, and move the slide forward.

  2. Step 2

Make sure you are in a safe area and aim the glock in a secure direction. Pull the trigger. Reverse the slide 1/8".

With the slide pulled back, push down on the slide lock so that you can pull out and remove the slide.

  4. Step 4

Lightly push the recoil up and forward, removing it from the slide.

  5. Step 5

Move the barrel forward in the slide, slightly lifting up at the rear of the barrel. Then grab the barrel by the back end and remove it from the slide.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some magazines do not drop out of the magazine catch and will need to be pulled out.
  • Never point a weapon in an unsafe direction. Make sure to disassemble the glock in a safe and secure area. If you pull the slide back too far it will move the trigger into the forward position. If this happens, repeat step 2. When pulling the coil up remember that it is under tension and can spring from your grasp.
