You might have made pinwheels as a kid and enjoyed running around with them, watching them spin. But do you remember how to make them now? No problem. They're so easy, your kids can do it.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 sheet of heavy paper
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil with eraser
  • Pushpin

Instructions

      Cut the paper so it is square. The easy way to do this is to fold one corner of the paper over to the opposite side and line up the edges. Cut off the excess.

      Fold the paper in half on the diagonal. Crease it with your fingernail or the side of the pencil. Repeat on the other diagonal so that you have a piece of paper with a giant X made by the fold lines.

      Mark the center of the paper. Mark each fold line about 1 inch away from the center.

      Cut along the fold lines, stopping at the marks.

      Bring the corners into the center, being careful not to crease the paper any further. When all four corners are in the center, attach the paper to the pencil eraser with the pushpin. Now run like the wind.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before bringing the corners to the center (Step 5), color each section a different color. Experiment with cutting the paper into eight sections.

  • Parents should supervise young children, since the pushpin can hurt them.
