Making homemade gifts is a good option when you want to create presents that have a personal touch. They are also a wise choice when your finances are tight. Consider creating gifts using glass jars. You can purchase glass jars from a grocery store or craft store, but an even less expensive option is to clean empty pickle jars, jam jars or baby food jars, remove the labels and turn them into gift vessels. 1. Recipe

      • 1

Choose a recipe that you want to use to create your glass jar gift. Consider choosing a cookie or brownie recipe or a dry bean soup recipe.

      • 2

Assemble the dry ingredients needed to create the recipe.

      • 3

Pour the ingredients into the jar in layers. Try to assemble the jar so that the layers look attractive. For example, if you are creating a cookie gift jar, add the white sugar, then the brown sugar, then the flour, then the chocolate chips and so on.

      • 4

Place the lid on the jar.

      • 5

Write the recipe, including any liquid ingredients needed, onto a piece of cardstock. Punch a hole in a top corner and thread a piece of ribbon through it. Attach the ribbon with the recipe onto the jar.

      Bath Salts

      • 1

Purchase a variety of bath salts. Choose bath salts with different colors and scents.

      • 2

Pour the bath salts inside the jar, layering the different colors.

      • 3

Place the lid on the jar.

      • 4

Attach a small scoop to a ribbon and tie it around the jar so that the recipient can use it to scoop out the salts when she wants to take a relaxing bath.

      • 1

Use a paintbrush to brush glue over the outside of a glass jar.

      • 2

Tear pieces of different colored tissue paper into smaller pieces. Place the tissue paper pieces onto the glass jar, allowing them to overlap. Smooth them out with the paintbrush. Continue doing this until the entire jar is covered in tissue paper.

      • 3

Apply another layer of glue over the tissue paper to seal it.

      • 4

Place a candle inside the jar.
