How to Remove Inspection Stickers

If you are replacing your windshield, removing the inspection sticker is important. In addition, you may move to an area where inspections are not preformed. Regardless of the reason, the sticker can be a nuisance. It is important to work carefully when removing the inspection sticker, especially if you are placing it on another window. They can rip and tear easily if you are not cautious. You can use household items to lift the sticker from your windshield.

Things You'll Need

• Box cutter
• Windex
• Cloth

Instructions

1. View the inspection sticker. Check for any pealing or bubbles on the side of the sticker.

2. Use a box cutter, razor blade or a thin knife. If the inspection sticker is peeling, start at that corner. If it is not, begin at the top left corner.

3. Run the blade under the sticker gently. Pull up on the sticker slightly as you are scraping. Move diagonally from the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner. Lift the inspection sticker while you are using the blade.

4. Spray the windshield with Windex, Fantastic or another window cleaner. Let the liquid soak through the remaining adhesive.

5. Soak the cloth in hot water. Wipe the windshield thoroughly to remove any remaining soap or debris.

Tips & Warnings

• When replacing the window, stick the tag on your new window. Rub your hand over the sticker. If it does not suction to the new window, add an adhesive.

• Check the laws for your state regarding the removal of an inspection sticker.
