Philips is a manufacture of many electronics, including HDTV monitors and televisions, which are available in LCD flat panel and rear projection. In order to care for your Philips monitor, you must follow manufacture recommendations, especially if it is still under warranty. You will also reap the benefits of a clean monitor with a clean crisp picture enhancing your high definition television viewing experience. In addition, if you do not properly clean the monitor, particularly an LCD flat screen, you could permanently damage the screen.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vacuum
  • Clean cotton rag
  • Water
  • Mild detergent or soap
  1. Step 1

Unplug your Philips HDTV monitor so that you don't get shocked, no matter how unlikely. Take off rings, bracelets and anything else that may scratch the monitor.

  2. Step 2

Vacuum the different slots and openings every couple of months. Dust with a dry rag weekly.

  3. Step 3

Wipe the cabinet of monitor (not the screen) with a slightly damp rag or sponge. Use clean water and a mild detergent or soap. Wipe it dry with a clean rag.

  4. Step 4

Clean the screen of your rear projection Philips HDTV monitor with a rag dampened with water and wipe vertically in even strokes. There are screen kits that are sold to clean the screens, available at most electronic stores or by calling Philips Customer Care Center.

  5. Step 5

Clean the dust off the screen of your LCD or flat panel Philips HDTV monitor with an absorbent cotton cloth. Philips does not recommend using chemicals to clean the LCD monitors, including alcohol, acetone, or toluene. If your monitor becomes dirty, you may use a damp cloth (water only) to gently and evenly wipe vertically, but wipe dry when done. Do not apply any pressure because it may cause permanent damage.
