Nothing is more annoying than being cut off in traffic by someone who didn't bother to turn on his turn signal. Do not be one of those drivers. Always use your turn signal, and if it goes bad, replace it immediately. The process of replacing a turn signal is pretty simple with most cars, including the Cutlass Ciera.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wheel puller
  • Lock plate removal tool
  • Ratchet
  • Screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Take off the steering wheel with a wheel puller. See the Resources section below for a link to purchase one. You will have to loosen the steering wheel assembly nut first.

  2. Step 2

Remove the lock plate with a lock plate removal tool. See the Resources section for a link to purchase one.

  3. Step 3

Loosen the three screws that hold the signal switch.

  4. Step 4

Unplug the turn signal switch and take out the wires.

  5. Step 5

Plug in the new switch and reverse the steps to install.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is possible that the turn signal contacts need to be cleaned and that your switch is working just fine. Push the tab in front of the signal stem and remove the plastic face plate from the steering column. Spray some canned air in there, like the kind you use to clean computers.
