Track lights are a great way to change the look of the room, and they are often considerably more adjustable than traditional lighting. Track lights contain multiple lights that are able to be pointed in any direction you like. Installing a track lighting system on your wall is not difficult.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Turn off the electricity to the circuit box that you are going to use when installing the track lights by flipping the switch on the fuse that goes to the room where you'll be working.

  2. Step 2

Check that the wires coming out of the circuit box in your wall are in good shape and can readily be connected to your track lights. Look for wires that are not frayed. If they are frayed, use wire cutters to clip off the frayed portions.

  3. Step 3

Remove any other lighting fixtures that are connected to that circuit box and connect the mounting plate for your new track lights over the circuit box. Connect all the wires from the circuit box to the corresponding wires on your track light kit.

  4. Step 4

Install the tracks of your track lighting kit. Hold the tracks up on your wall at the location you want to install them. Mark the holes where you will be drilling with a pencil. Drill holes for mounting in your wall. Hold the tracks up to the holes and screw the tracks to the wall with a screwdriver.

  5. Step 5

Run the wiring through the tracks of your track light kit and connect all wires to the circuit box by twisting the color-coded wires together with your hands.

  6. Step 6

Attach the light fixtures to the tracks by screwing them in place with the screws that came with your track lighting kit. Adjust the lights, so they point in the directions you want them to on your wall.

  7. Step 7

Turn the fuse in the fuse box back on, so you can once again provide electricity to the room you were working in.
