Some people use the art of rubber stamping as a hobby and some people rubber stamp for money! There are so many different ways you can use your rubber stamps to create new arts and crafts. If you want to make money with rubber stamping, visit a craft show and give it a whirl. You may be surprised to find out rubber stamping crafts are selling like hot cakes at a craft show!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • • a candle: any size, shape or color • rubber art-stamps, ink, embossing powder • heat embossing tool • plain white tissue paper • sponge for applying water
  1. Step 1

First, carefully plan the exact design you want to add to your candle. Once you have decide what you want to make for an image, find the rubber stamp with the image already created, or create an image on your rubber stamp. (you can find many website that tell you how to make a image on a rubber stamp....make sure to follow all directions carefully or it will not turn out the way you want)

  2. Step 2

Next, using your piece of tissue paper, cut the tissue paper to the size for you image. The tissue paper should be cut so that it has just enough room for the rubber stamped image with out having too much excess paper around the image.

  3. Step 3

The next step involves stamping the image on the tissue paper. You can stamp, decorate and use the heat embossing technique to put a design on the tissue paper. Once you image is created on to the tissue paper, you are ready for the next step.

  4. Step 4

Now, using the sponge, slightly dampen the sponge with water...Do NOT soak the sponge. Wet the sponge and wring out all the excess water until it is only damp and no water drips from the sponge. Using the sponge, SLIGHTLY dampen the BACKSIDE of the tissue paper. Make sure the backside of the tissue paper is dampened evenly.

  5. Step 5

Now, place the tissue paper on the candle. The backside of the tissue paper is the side that should be on the candle. The printed image side needs to be facing you. Evenly press the image on the candle without damaging the tissue paper.

  6. Step 6

Using the embossing tool, preheat it and evenly apply heat to the tissue paper on the candle. You should notice that it looks like the tissue paper is "disappearing". If it disappears, then you are doing this correctly. If not, keep applying heat evenly until the tissue paper does disappear. *BEFORE THE TISUE PAPER DISAPPEARS, IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE IT IS DRYING OUT* It is also normal to see the candle surface slightly melt, this is what causes the tissue paper to dissolve and disappear, as long at the candle does not melt too much.

  7. Step 7

After you have done this, your image should be on the candle with the tissue paper. Now you can make more and sell them at a craft show, give it as a gift...or even better keep it for yourself to show off your work!

  8. Step 8

Have fun, be creative and make more fun candles! Or print tons of images on one candle to really make it unique! These are wonderful for Christmas or Birthday gifts because they are homemade by you and have a lot of thought put in to them.

Good luck on your rubber stamping fun!

Tips & Warnings
  • A few helpful tips: Solid images work best, even using rubber stamps with words can work really well for printing on candles! Metallic and opaque embossing powders work the best for printing on candles. You can even add some glitter to the tissue paper for an extra unique look. I recommend using glitter glue on the tissue paper and then waiting for it to dry before applying it the candle.
  • Before you use a good candle, it is best to use an old candle and do some "tests" until you get the hang of it.
