Baby shower gift basket

The main idea for a baby shower gift basket is to be creative and put your own personal stamp on the creation - making it a present that is both useful and memorable.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Container to hold the gift basket items
  • Baby related goodies to put in the gift basket
  • Ribbon, shredded paper, tissue paper, or balloons
  • Scissors and tape
  • Double sided sticky tape (optional)
  • Gift card
  1. Step 1

Pick a container to hold the gift items. You can use a wicker or wire basket, a diaper pail, a clothes hamper, a wooden toy box, a cute kid sized wastebasket, or even a little red wagon. Just make sure the size of the receptacle is large enough to accommodate the size and shape of the goodies you'll be putting into it.

  2. Step 2

Buy the baby goodies to put in the gift basket. Thoughtful items to include are sleeping outfits, newborn clothing, receiving blankets, rattles, pacifiers, bibs, diapers, teething rings, plush toys like a teddy bear or duck or bunny, warm booties, soft fluffy socks, children's books of fairy tales or farm animals, photo frames, eating utensils or bowls, hair bows, and hats. Then there are the standard always appreciated supplies you can pick up at the last minute such as Vaseline, baby lotion, powder, shampoo, Orajel or other medicine for teething pain, diaper rash cream, and other nurturing child care and maintenance items.

  3. Step 3

Line your container with shredded paper or tissue paper. This will help stabalize the items inside the container. Use as much paper as needed to help fill any empty spaces.

  4. Step 4

Stack and arrange all the items into the bsket or container of your choice. You might need to use some double-sided sticky tape to hold some larger of heavier items in place so things don't topple over.

  5. Step 5

Cover the basket with plastic wrap or shrink wrap if so desired. Or simply decorate the basket or container with colorful ribbons or balloons.

  6. Step 6

Don't forget to include a note card so they recipient will know who the gift came from.

Tips & Warnings
  • Before picking a container to hold your gift items, consider the size, shape, and number of items you will be putting into the holder.
  • Crinkled up tissue paper works great as a colorful filler to make the basket look fuller if you're only including a few items in the gift.
  • Shop the clearance racks throughout the year and stock up on non-perishable items to use in gift baskets. Buying at discount prices will save money, and having items on-hand will save time.
