Dotee dolls are easy to make and super addictive! The only rules: they must be between 3 – 5 inches long, have a hanger and tail, and must NEVER be sold (only traded or given). Anybody can make a Dotee and once you make your first one you might not be able to stop!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fabric
  • Sewing Needle and Thread
  • Embellishments
  • Poly-fill or Poly-beads
  • Felt
  1. Step 1

Cut out the shape of your Dotee and its face. Again, the measurements must be between 3 and 5 inches long (unless you’re doing a special swap). The shape can be a simple oval or a silly squiggly.

  2. Step 2

Make the face. This can be done with markers, stitching, and beads, whatever you choose! Make it cute and fun!

  3. Step 3

Once you are done with the face it’s generally a good idea to stitch it onto the front of your Dotee before stitching your Dotee together. This is also a good time to put the hanger and tail on it as well (I normally sew my Dotee up until the point where I need my hanger and tail, then add them before continuing to sew again). If you choose to embellish your Dotee with beads, glitter, or anything else this should also be done before sewing it all together.

  4. Step 4

Sew your Dotee. Many Dotees are sewn inside out so that the stitches do not show once it’s done, but if you like the stitching to show you can easily sew your Dotee right side out. It’s all about preference and what kind of stitch you’re doing.

  5. Step 5

After stitching most of the body together you should have at least a finger’s width of space to stuff the Dotee. This can be done with poly-fill or poly-beads. If you’re sending yours in the mail and are worried about postage prices than poly-fill is the better option.

  6. Step 6

Congratulations! You are now the proud parent of a Dotee doll! Now go spread the Dotee love!
