Take one end of the lace and place it through the bottom hole. Take the other side of the lace and place it through the opposite hole so that the lace lays across the top of the shoe and the laces are on the underside of the sneaker.

    • 2

Take the left lace and place it through the right hole. Take the right hole and lace it through the next right hole so that the laces are criss-crossed.

    • 3

Take the left lace and lace it up the left side in and out of the holes until you get to the second to last hole. Do the same with the right lace.

    • 4

Criss-cross the laces when you get to the top so that the right lace is threaded through the top left hole and the left lace is threaded through the top right hole.

    • 5

Ttie a traditional sneaker knot once you are at the top of the sneaker, but avoid pulling the laces tight. The manner in which you lace the shoe will leave plenty of lace to make a knot so pulling the laces tight is not necessary. You can double knot the shoe to keep the laces in place better.

Tips & Warnings

  • Round laces provide a bit more slack which is necessary for high arches.

People with high arches often find that the tongue slips to the outside, which can push the heal off center. When you have six or more eyelets on each side and a tongue center loop between #3 and #4, the following lacing pattern may provide relief. Number each eyelet from the top. I = inside; O = outside; the tongue loop = L. Start lacing with a basic criss-cross pattern from 6 up to 4. Then with the inside lace, go I4, L, I2, O3, O1 and out. With the other lace, continue the criss-cross: O4, I3, O2, I1 and out. This forms a "V" that pulls the tongue back to the center. Do not over-tighten. This also may take a little pressure off the instep.
