Make Hair Bows Out of Felt

A felt hair bow is an inexpensive, easy to make accoutrement for your locks. The bow is so simple to create novice bow makers or even children could whip them up in a few minutes. Make them in many colors and adhere different charms, buttons or beads to give each handcrafted felt hair bow a look of its own. Follow these steps.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Felt sheet
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue
  • Floral wire
  • Hair clip
  • Charm
  1. Step 1

Cut 4 cm by 23.5 cm rectangle out of your felt sheet.

  2. Step 2

Fold one end of the felt to the center. Apply a thin vertical line of hot glue on its edge.

  3. Step 3

Fold the other end of the felt to the middle and press into the hot glue.

  4. Step 4

Pinch the folded felt in the center to create a bow shape.

  5. Step 5

Wrap a piece of floral wire around the center.

  6. Step 6

Repeat wrapping the wire around the center of your bow.

  7. Step 7

Apply hot glue on the back of a charm. Press the charm into the center of the bow.

  8. Step 8

Squeeze hot glue onto a small metal hair clip and press your bow into it. Make sure that you look at the orientation of your charm before you glue it to the clip so that it faces in the proper direction when you wear it in your hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that you resize the rectangle when using different size hair clips.
  • When making bows with children use low temp glue instead.
