Things You'll Need:
- Vinegar
- Water
- Container
- Toothbrush
-
Step 1
Create a solution of equal parts white distilled vinegar and water. You can use commercially-available cleaners made specifically for cleaning hard water stains but using vinegar is less expensive, less harsh and better for the environment (and it works just as well).
-
Step 2
Remove the chrome showerhead by unscrewing it.
-
Step 3
Place the showerhead in the container containing the vinegar and water solution.
-
Step 4
Let the showerhead sit in the solution. How long you have to let it sit will depend on the amount of calcium built up in the showerhead. It may require as little as an hour or as much as overnight.
-
Step 5
Remove the showerhead from the solution and brush it lightly with a toothbrush to dislodge the rest of the buildup.
-
Step 6
Rinse the showerhead and replace it.
