How to Troubleshoot a Maytag Electric Dryer
Your Maytag electric dryer has a problem and you don't know how to fix it. Before you call the dealer or the repairman, try to find a solution for the problem on your own so you can save yourself some time, aggravation and money. Fortunately, Maytag offers a product support website that provides troubleshooting help for its electric dryers and other appliances. Unplug the dryer and slide a putty knife between the top cover and front panel to depress the locking clip. Remove the top and remove the screws on either side of the back flange of the front panel. Remove the front panel.

Check that the two wire harnesses in the lower front right corner are connected securely. This will ensure your dryer works properly on Auto-Dry.

Troubleshoot the motor and blower by removing the three screws at the front of the drum that hold the blower duct. Take the duct out and remove the nine screws that attach the blower cover panel. Remove the panel.

Disconnect the wire harness connector from the motor and rotate the blower assembly by pulling the left side toward you. Remove the blower assembly.

Remove the blower wheel from the assembly using one wrench on the rear of the motor shaft and the other wrench on the nut holding the wheel. Remove the nut, followed by the three screws around it.

Stop your drum from squeaking while drying by replacing the glides. With the top and front of the dryer removed, disconnect the wires to the drum light and remove the four screws that connect the drum bulkhead to the frame. Remove the drum belt from the pulley and pull the drum out. Check and service the rollers and glides as necessary.
