How to Make Homemade Car Fresheners

A car can easily get musty or dirty-smelling if you don't regularly vacuum and dust it. Even after you clean your car, a nice scent is appealing. Cheap car air fresheners last a very short time, but you can easily make your own car fresheners with a few supplies that will smell great as long as you want them to.

  • Essential oil
  • Felt
  • Needle
  • Fishing line

      Cut out a piece of felt that is smaller than 5 inches in diameter. Cut out any shape that appeals to you, because it will be hanging from your rearview mirror.

      Thread about 12 inches of fishing line through the needle, then push it through the felt, near the top of the shape. Tie the ends of the string together to make a loop for the piece of felt to hang from.

      Drip three to five drops of essential oil in the center of the felt piece.

      Hang the piece of felt from your rearview mirror.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a few more drops of essential oil to the felt every few weeks to keep the scent strong.
