How to Make a Duct Tape Bracelet

Save

Duct tape is a versatile, multi-use item that no home should be without. The things you can do and fix with duct tape are quite remarkable. When something breaks, it is quite likely that if you have a roll of duct tape handy, you may be able to at least temporarily fix it.

Not only is duct tape a handy tool around the house, but it can also be used in other imaginative ways. One such way is in jewelry making! With several bright colors of duct tape and a scissors, you can create eye-catching and attractive bracelets out of duct tape in very little time. Find a friend and help each other make a fun duct tape bracelet.

Things You'll Need

  • 3 to 4 rolls colored duct tape
  • Tape Measure
  • Scissors
  • Cut a 10-inch piece of duct tape from three of the rolls of duct tape. Match up each long edge with the sticky side of the tape inside. This will create three long, smooth strips of duct tape.

  • Cut a 15-inch piece of duct tape (you can repeat a color used in step 1 or use a different color). Match up the long edges with the sticky side of the tape inside to create another smooth strip.

  • Place the three duct tape strips on a work surface. Lay them horizontally in front of you with each strip 1/8-inch apart. All the short ends should be lined up evenly.

  • Cut two 2-inch-by-2-inch pieces of duct tape (any color desired). Set one aside. Place this piece sticky-side down over the left-side ends of the laid out strips. Affix the small piece of tape securely around the ends to hold them.

  • Cut one more strip approximately 4 inches long and place it over the taped ends to secure them to the work surface while you weave the bracelet. The color of this piece does not matter, it will not be a part of the bracelet.

  • Weave the 15-inch strip over and under each of three strips. Weave the strip back and forth from side to side. As you complete each back and forth weave, push the woven ribbon back toward the taped ends to make it tight and snug. Continue weaving from right to left and then back from left to right along the 3 strips of ribbon.

  • Continue weaving the long strip until your bracelet is the desired length. Trim off any excess duct tape.

  • Place the bracelet length around your wrist and use the reserved 2-inch-by-2-inch piece of duct tape to secure the two ends together to finish the bracelet. You may need help to do this step.
