How to clean your deck or fence chemically free with only a pressure washer

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Step 1 To Pressure Wash Wood deck' s and Fence
    Remove all furniture from the deck. sweep away and loose dirt or leaves.
    Close any windows or doors around where you will be cleaning.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2 To Pressure Wash Wood deck' s and Fence
    use yellow nozzle or 15-20 deg fan nozzle.
    Position pressure washer so you have the most cleaning area before needing to move it.
    start the pressure washer.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3 To Pressure Wash Wood deck' s and Fence
    pull the trigger at around a 9 o'clock position and in one full swing bring it down passing over and around to about a 4 o'clock position staying 4 inches away from the cleaning surface.

  4. Step 4

    adjust the distance to the surface and the speed of your swing to determine the best cleaning result per swing .

  5. Step 5

    follow step 3 but when you get to around the 7 o'clock position start walking along the length of the boards. Follow through to the 4 o'clock position when you run out of room or length of hose.

Tips & Warnings
  • NEVER use a turbo or speed nozzle to clean wood "scars wood"
  • NEVER do fast rapid passes from 7-5 o'clock "scars wood"
  • Use a mud flap along the bottom of a fence or along the side of a deck to minimise dirt splatter and digging up the lawn

on 3/26/2009 Thank you for this detailed article on Pressure Washing Wood Decks. My husband and I bought our first house in May 08 and have a beautiful wood deck, front porch and carport that will all need to be pressure washed. 5* and put in my favorites.
