Sawsalls can be used in a variety of ways, Ill explain how to cut pipe with them, both PVC and Metal conduit. First if you are working irrigation type work the pipes usually come in 10 foot pieces, take the piece of pipe and stick the pipe between your legs sideways after marking the cut. Bend your legs a little so the pipe rest between your legs with the cut part sticking out to your right. With the sawsall cut the piece of pipe you need. Blades on these should be fine edge blades and all of this can be picked up at any local Home Depot.

Cutting metal pipe of conduit is also done this way with a fine blade using the same technique. Conduit is for Electrical installations and there are different cuts that need to be made to fit pipes in certain areas. They are a must on electrical job but a word of warning, there are sticky fingers out there and keep an eye on your tools on job sites.

When choosing a sawsall consider the job you are doing, for home repair I would recommend the 18 volt Ryobi, you can buy the whole kit for about 2 bucks, Dewalt and Milwaukee Kits run a good 500 bucks and the sawsalls separately cost about $200 for an 18 volt sawsall alone. Always consider the job and don't spent too much money.
