How to Make Wire Bracelets

Found This Helpful

Making your own handcrafted jewelry is a popular craft. The task of creating necklaces, earrings and bracelets is not as difficult as it may appear. Often a necklace or bracelet that looks intricate and complicated is not at all difficult to make. With about 30 minutes, a little wire, a few beads, and a tool or two you can create jewelry that will be like no other jewelry in the world.

Things You'll Need

  • .018 Beading wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • O-ring clasp
  • 2 crimp beads
  • Beads

Instructions

  1. Measure around your wrist to estimate the desired length of your bracelet.

  2. Cut a length of wire that is double the measurement taken in step 1 plus 2 inches.

  3. Thread the wire through the linking loop of one half of the O-ring clasp. Pull the wire through until it is at the half-way point on the loop.

  4. Lay out your beads to design your beading arrangement. You will have two lengths of wires for beads in this bracelet, so you will need to design two strings of beads. Experiment a little to find a design you like.

  5. Begin placing your beads onto the beading wire according to your design from step 4.

  6. When the wires begin to be almost full, carefully hold up the bracelet to your wrist to check for sizing again. Continue adding beads if necessary, or finish adding the beads.

  7. Place a crimp bead onto each beading wire.

  8. Pass each end of wire through the loop of the other half of the O-ring closure.

  9. Loop the wires back down through their respective crimp beads.

  10. Pull the wires tight with the pliers.

  11. Crimp both crimp beads flat with the needle-nose pliers.

  12. Clip off any excess wire with the wire clippers to finish the bracelet.
