Things You'll Need:
- Allen wrench/Screwdriver
- New slip-fit tub spout
- Caulking gun
- Paper towel
- Putty knife
-
Step 1
Scrape off the old caulking around the spout by using a putty knife.
-
Step 2
Look for an Allen bolt found under or on the side of the spout. Use the appropriate tool (either a screwdriver or Allen wrench) to loosen the bolt.
-
Step 3
Twist the tub spout in clockwise direction to loosen then pull to remove the old one.
-
Step 4
Clean the area around the spout to prepare it for a new replacement.
-
Step 5
Now you are ready to attach the new slip-fit spout into the connection pipe. Take the new spout and slip it into place.
-
Step 6
Tighten the bolt using the appropriate tool to secure the new spout in place.
-
Step 7
Apply new caulking around the spout to seal the opening between the wall and spout. Use your fingers to set the caulk neatly around it. Remove excess with a paper towel.
-
Step 8
Allow the caulk to dry before turning on the water and using your bathtub again.

on 3/9/2009 Thanks for making this look so easy - it looks like something I can do myself rather than paying someone to do it.
