Make Baby Showers Favors

Baby showers are one of my favorite types of parties to plan, but can become costly if you're not careful. These baby shower favors are adorable, easy to make, and no one will notice that they cost just pennies to make. These cute little baby shoes can be filled with whatever you choose--candies, trinkets, or even a votive candle. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Styrofoam cups
  • paper punch
  • ribbon
  • candies or other fillers

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the top rim off of each Styrofoam cup you will be using.

    • 2

Cut two diagonal strips on one side of the cup. On the outside edge of each of these cuts, use the paper punch to pierce two or three holes. Take care not to cut them too close to the inside or they will tear when you insert the ribbon.

    • 3

Cut a piece of ribbon to be used as the "shoelaces" for the favor. Insert the ribbon into the paper-punched holes as you would a lace a shoe. Tie a bow at the top.

    • 4

Place fillers into each shoe. Individually wrapped candies, plastic wrapped piles of M&Ms, sample-sized bottles of lotions or bath gels, and votive candles all make fun filler items.

Tips & Warnings

  • Coordinate the ribbon with your baby shower decorations or use plain pink, blue, or yellow.

  • Hang a twine "clothesline" somewhere in the party area and attach the shoes, allowing them to double as decorations. Add baby clothes, such as onesies or sleepers.

  • Don't be discouraged if the first couple of shoes don't turn out perfectly---it takes a couple to get the cutting right.

  • When tying the shoes, be cautious not to pull too tightly on the ribbon. This will cause the holes to rip.
