Make a Dirty Martini With Vodka

A dirty martini is a variation on the classic martini. It is made with olive brine, which is the juice cocktail olives are packaged in. The dirty martini can be made with gin or vodka, and each is traditional. Use this simple method to make a quick and easy dirty martini with vodka.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Fill the cocktail shaker approximately ¾ of the way full with ice. Pour 2 ½ oz. of vodka over the ice.

  2. Step 2

Pour ½ oz. of olive brine over the ice. Olive brine, also known as olive juice, can be obtained from a jar of cocktail olives.

  3. Step 3

Stir the ice, vodka and olive brine together in the cocktail shaker using a spoon for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. Stir slowly and carefully, being sure not to break apart the ice.

  4. Step 4

Strain the mixture into a martini glass. A cocktail or wine glass can be used if a martini glass is not available.

  5. Step 5

Garnish with 1 or 2 cocktail olives and serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can buy specialty olive juice, made specifically for dirty martinis. However, the juice from cocktail olives works just as well. For a smokier taste to your dirty martini, add a splash of single malt scotch after adding the olive brine.
  • Always drink responsibly and keep all alcoholic beverages out of reach of children.
