Instructions

    • 1

Assemble all the material from the "things you'll need" section, before you begin.

    • 2

To start making your silk topiary, prepare the silk flowers by cutting each one from the wire stem, with wire cutters.Cut each flower, leaving 1" of a wire stem on each one.

    • 3

After cutting all the silk flowers, bring out the foam ball. Mentally plan your color scheme before adding the flowers to the foam.

    • 4

Add the flowers by sticking the wire stem directly into the foam ball. Go around the whole ball, leaving only the bottom half empty to add the birch stick.

    • 5

After covering with the artificial flowers, sporadically add the birch twigs all around the topiary.

    • 6

Prepare your birch stick. Adjust the length if necessary. Here the two sticks are wired together.

    • 7

Attach the birch stick to the topiary. Push birch sticks into the foam 1" deep. Remove, and use the hot glue gun to add glue to the top of the birch sticks. Put back into foam, this time pushing an extra 1/2 inch.

    • 8

Now fill in around the bottom of the table topiary with the remaining silk flowers. Add the flowers around until it is full.

    • 9

      Prepare your base.
There are a few different ways you can do this. One way is to use plaster paris, filling the container 3/4 of the way full, then adding the stick.

Here we will demonstrate using a foam block.

    • 10

Cut your foam block to fit inside the base or container. You may want to add something small and heavy to fit in the bottom of your container, to keep the topiary from becoming top heavy. Small rocks, or sand will work.

    • 11

Gently push your base stick into the foam, pull out and add hot glue gun all around the hole, and to the bottom of your stick.

    • 12

Now that the base is secure, add the floral moss all around the base.

    • 13

After it is completed, stand back and make sure everything is just how you want it. Make adjustments as necessary. You're done, you have made your own centerpiece topiary!
