Things You'll Need:
- CD's
- Hand Drill
- Fishing line/Nylon thread
- Your Curtain Rod
- Colorful Beads (if desired)
-
Step 1
DRILLING THE HOLES:
First you will need to drill a very small hole into the top and bottom of each CD, this is if you do not want the fishing line or Nylon thread to be noticeable looped from the center hole already in the CD. I suggest taking a little time with this one because the end product will be much more appealing. However, if you want to make these curtains but do not have a drill then you can use the center hole of the CD to do all of the securing. It will not look as good but it will work. -
Step 2
CUTTING THE FISHING LINE OR NYLON THREAD:
After you've drilled all of the holes, you will need to get your fishing line, be sure to have enough for however many rows you plan on creating as well as how many CD's you will be attaching. (more is better)Cut a piece of fishing line making sure it will thread through the drilled hole AND make a loop just large enough to slide onto your curtain rod, determine how many long pieces you'll need to cut by how many rows you will be making. (You can use the first cut piece to be a guide for the others to ensure all will be the same)Once you have all of the larger pieces cut you will need to cut smaller pieces (the size of the line here will depend on the amount of space you wish to have between each CD. Be certain to leave enough extra as you will be tying two knots on each end to secure the CD's together), again use the first piece as a guide in order to have all of the others exactly the same..unless you'd prefer a variety of spaces between the CD's. -
Step 3
CONNECTING THE CD'S:
Get your first CD and run the fishing line through the drilled hole tying the two ends together in a small secure knot, to make your loop. Take one of the smaller pieces you have just cut and run it through the bottom hole of the first CD. From the back of the CD, tie the fishing line in a double knot to secure the fishing line from pulling through the drilled hole. (Be sure to add your beads, if you want, at this stage prior to securing the two CD's together) Run the bottom end of the fishing line through the top hole of your second CD, securing it in the same fashion. Continue to do this until the row has become the length you want your curtain to be. Continue making rows, in this same manner, until you are satisfied with the thickness of your CD curtain.
