Make good use of leftover candy canes by crafting them into a treat for your children's class or dropping them into a Valentine's card. You can make these candy Valentines for next to nothing. They can even be linked together and given as a gift. The hearts can be made into hanging ornaments by adding a ribbon or fiber loop. They also work well on an interior Valentine wreath.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Red and white candy canes
  • 1/4-inch wide red satin ribbon or sparkly fiber
  1. Step 1

Cut one 4-inch piece and one 3-inch piece of the ribbon or fiber. Tie a knot in the center of the largest piece of ribbon.

  2. Step 2

Lay two candy canes tip to tip with both ends touching one another. This will look like a heart shape.

  3. Step 3

Unroll several inches from the ribbon or fiber. Pinch about 1/2 inch away from the end and make a loop. Continue making loops until you have a small bow.

  4. Step 4

Hold the 4-inch piece of ribbon or fiber with the knot at the center of the small bow. Tie the ends of the 4-inch piece tightly around the back of the bow to secure it.

  5. Step 5

Take the 3-inch piece of ribbon and tie the candy cane cellophane sleeves together at the bottom.

  6. Step 6

Tie or tape the tops of the candy cane cellophane packages together. Tape or glue the back of the bow and affix it to the center of the top of the heart.
