Tying a slip knot is simple, once you have the rhythm down. Slip knots are used in many knitting and sewing projects, such as knitting and crochet. The steps below will show you how to successfully make a slip knot.

1. Make a loop, or cursive letter "e" with your yarn or thread.

2. Making a Slip Knot

   Hold the loop in place with one hand. With the other hand, guide your yarn or thread behind the loop.

3. Make a Slip Knot

   Use a hook or needle to pull the yarn or thread through the loop. This is your slip knot.

4. Slip Knot Around a Crochet Hook

   When using a slip knot in a crochet project, the slip knot is placed around the crochet hook and tightened by pulling the end of the yarn.

   When using the slip knot with a knitting loom, the slip knot is placed around the anchor peg and tightened by pulling the end of the yarn.

5. When using a knitting loom, you can release the slip know from the anchor peg after you have knitted a few rows and there is tension on the yarn.
