Tying a slip knot is simple. Slip knots are used in many knitting and sewing projects. I reference these knots frequently in my instructions for using a knifty knitter loom. The steps below will show you how to successfully make a slip knot.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a loop, or cursive letter "e" with your yarn or thread.

  2. Step 2

Hold the loop in place with one hand. With the other hand, guide your yarn or thread behind the loop.

  3. Step 3

Use a hook or needle to pull the yarn or thread through the loop. This is your slip knot.

  4. Step 4

Slip knots can be secured by placing the slip knot on the anchor peg of a knifty knitter loom and tightening the loop by pulling the yarn tight.

  5. Step 5

After you knit several rows with your knifty knitter loom, you will feel tension from the anchor peg where the slip knot is secured. You may release the slip knot at anytime after the first few rows of knitting are well established.
