Things You'll Need:
- 1, 2 or 3 yard piece of printed fleece material
- 1, 2 or 3 yard piece of coordinating fleece material
- sharp fabric scissors
-
Step 1
Visit the fabric shop and purchase a piece of printed fleece material and a solid color of fleece material to match. For a small blanket purchase 1 yard of each. For a medium blanket purchase 2 yards of each and for a large blanket purchase 3 yards of each.
-
Step 2
Lay the pieces of fleece, one on top of the other, on the bed or other large area where you can cut fringes all around the edge. Make sure you have the wrong sides together.
-
Step 3
Cut a 2.5 inch section out of each corner. Fringe the rest of each side by cutting evenly spaced strips from the edge towards the middle. They should only go in about 2.5 inches. Remember you are cutting both pieces of material at the same time, so the fringes on the top piece of fleece with having matching fringes on the bottom piece of fleece. Space the cuts from 1/2 inch to 1 inch apart. For larger blankets I sometimes make wider strips, such as in the picture above.
-
Step 4
Once you are finished going all around the edge cutting the strips tie each strip on the top piece of fleece to its corresponding strip on the bottom piece of fleece. Tie the two strips into a secure knot.
-
Step 5
Keep tying strips all the way around the edges until each strip has been knotted. Your fleece blanket is now ready to use, wash and use some more.
