Step 1
Did you just buy a new cashmere sweater? These wool / cashmere sweaters cost a fortune at most retailers. All cashmere sweaters say that it should be dry cleaned. But, it is expensive to send it to the dry cleaners every time it gets dirty. Also, the chemicals in the dry cleaner will damage the cashmere sweater overtime. An alternative way to washing cashmere sweater is to do it yourself.
-
Step 2
Clean your sink first and fill it up with lukewarm water.
-
Step 3
Choose a mild detergent for your sweater. You don’t want to damage the delicate fibers of the cashmere sweater. Add small amounts of it to the sink and mix it evenly with your hands.
-
Step 4
Put your cashmere sweater in the sink and wet it so that the detergent is soaking the sweater. Be gentle and don’t rub it hard with your hands because you don’t want to damage the fibers or structures of the sweater.
-
Step 5
Let the sweater soak in the detergent water for a while, at least 1 hour. Let it soak longer when you don’t have time to rinse it right away.
-
Step 6
Rinse the sweater by using several batches of lukewarm water to wash off all the detergent.
-
Step 7
Lift from sweater from the rinse water once it’s free of detergent. Lay it flat on a towel and roll it up to squeeze out most of its water. Let the cashmere sweater dry on the towel.

on 12/9/2008 Thanks for posting this article on how to care for a chasmere sweater. I have one and will have to make sure it hasn't been eaten by bugs! Yikes.
