Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/8 cup red candy crystals
  • 1/8 cup green candy crystals
  • Plastic snack sized bags or baby jars
  1. Step 1

Reindeer food is sure to be a hit this Christmas for school craft projects, gifts, or for use in your own home! This magic reindeer food will help guide Santa's sleigh and help the reindeer have plenty of energy!

  2. Step 2

In your sandwich sized bag or baby jar, pour half of the oatmeal into the bag or jar. Than pour the red sprinkles on top of the oatmeal followed by the white sugar and then the green sprinkles. Use the remaining oatmeal and pour on top of the green sprinkles. Seal bag or jar.

  3. Step 3

Attach printed poem with instructions for using the reindeer magic food on Christmas Eve. A copy of the printed poem can be found under links at the bottom of this page, or you can choose to make your own. On Christmas Eve, head outside to sprinkle the food on your lawn for the reindeer to eat!

Tips & Warnings
  • Some reindeer magic recipes recommend using 1/8-1/4 cup craft glitter in the recipe. You can use this in addition to the other ingredients, however it is strongly recommended that you don't if you live in areas where birds may ingest it as they will be attracted to the oatmeal, may ingest the glitter and cause harm to birds.
