Things You'll Need:
- Metal Hanger
- Pliers
- 1 yard Fabric, multiple colors
- Scissors
- Hot Glue
-
Step 1
Bend The Hanger:
Take the hanger and bend it into a circular wreath shape. I like to leave the hook in place and use that as a natural hook. Pliers can be helpful in bending the hanger into a nice circle, but are not needed. -
Step 2
Cut the Fabric:
For this project you will need small strips of fabric that are about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long. To get the "rag" look, I like to tear the fabric instead of cutting it. First cut a series of 1 inch notches with your scissors and then tear the fabric along each notch. Most fabric will easily tear in a nice straight line. Then cut the longer strips of fabric into 6 inch pieces. Save one strip of fabric, 12-18 inches long, to decorate the hook of your hanger. -
Step 3
Make your Wreath!
Wrap the long strip of fabric around the hook, hot gluing each end, until it is completely covered. Then simply tie the strips of fabric around the hanger. Slide them tightly together as you go. If you are making a multi color wreath be sure to switch fabric at your preferred intervals. Continue to tie the strips around your hanger until you can't fit anymore. -
Step 4
Finishing Touches:
When your hanger can't fit anymore fabric strips your wreath is almost done! All you have left to do is fluff it and hang your beautiful masterpiece. You can also add a bow or other embellishments at this point, but it isn't really necessary.
