Pool covers come in a variety of materials, styles and prices. Choose from safety, solar, in ground or above ground. Properly installing a swimming pool cover offers the greatest benefits and prevents unnecessary damage. If you have a swimming pool and you need a cover, read through the following steps for easy installation instructions.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Swimming pool cover Water bags
  1. Step 1

Drain the pool down a foot below the surface before installing the cover. Add in proper chemicals and anti-freeze.

  2. Step 2

Evenly lay out the swimming pool cover on top of the pool allowing equally distributed overlap.

  3. Step 3

Position the securing hardware that comes with the cover. Water bags are threaded through the retaining loops attached to the cover.

  4. Step 4

Press the pool cover to form against the sides of the pool while the actual cover lays on the water preventing wind from entering underneath.

  5. Step 5

Hold the cover down by spraying water on the cover about an inch deep.

  6. Step 6

Fill up the water bags with water and secure them in place for maximum support.

Tips & Warnings
  • Allow maximum overlap on your swimming pool cover to ensure it will stay down in high winds.
  • Make sure your swimming pool cover comes over the top enough so that nothing and no one can get between the cover and the pool.
