Things You'll Need:
- Internet Access
- Fundraiser
- Food
- Toiletries
- Pen pal
- Thank you
-
Step 1
FundraiserCoordinate a community fundraising event. Use money collected to send care packages to troops serving abroad. Include items that might be comforting, such as peanut butter, popular candy bars, homemade cookies, etc. Don’t forget the practical items such as toiletries, stationary, music, and the like.
-
Step 2
Pen palVisit one of many web sites dedicated to finding pen pals for active military personnel. Receiving correspondence can be one of the most uplifting events in a soldiers day.
-
Step 3
VeteransContact an area military base and find out the names of some families whose spouses are serving abroad. See if there is anything that the family might be in need of. Offer to provide sitter services for spouses of active military personnel. Those left behind often have to shoulder the brunt of the entire family responsibility while their loved one is away. Babysitting is just one of many things that can bring some much needed r and r to those that are serving on the home front.
-
Step 4
TroopsSay thank you. When you come into contact with anyone who is a recognizable veteran or active military person, let them know what it means to you to have brave soldiers willing to sacrifice their health, life, and family so that you can enjoy the freedom to live yours the way you want.
