1
Pick the right image for creating your inkjet iron-on transfer. You can choose an image of a friend, family member, favorite destination, or anything you want. Make sure that the image is a clear one and will be able to be seen easily when transferred to a T-shirt or cloth product.

2
Use an inkjet printer to create your iron-on image instead of a laserjet printer. You won't get the same results if you try to use a non inkjet printer. There are various inkjet printers that are capable of printing on iron-on transfer paper. A few examples of these types of inkjet printers are the Canon MP130, Lexmark X3650 and the Epson Stylus RX680. If you have another type of inkjet paper, you'll need to check the specifications and paper type sections of your user guide.

3
Preview the image before you begin printing the iron-on transfer. You'll need to check it for any mistakes or flaws. Once you have previewed the image, it should look exactly the way you want it to look on the T-shirt, bag or other cloth. If the image does not look appropriate, then make the necessary adjustments to improve it.
-
4
Place a few sheets of plain paper into the inkjet printer. This will help you test out the printing aspect of the iron-on image before using the iron-on transfer paper. Instead of wasting your valuable sheets of iron-on transfer paper, you can perform multiple test prints of the image with plain paper. When you are ready to begin the actual process of printing iron-on transfer images, remove the plain sheets of paper from the inkjet paper.
-
5
Insert the iron-on transfer paper into your chosen inkjet printer. Depending on the type of inkjet printer that you are using, you'll be able to insert the paper into a bottom slot or one located on top of the printer. Print two iron-on transfer images onto the special paper. One can be used for testing and the other can be used on the final product.
-
6
Cut out the iron-on transfer by following along the lines of the image. Once this has been done, you'll need to place your iron-on transfer on a high enough setting to use for the process. Usually, the appropriate setting would be the "Cotton" setting. Turn off the steam setting as well. If you mistakenly leave this feature on, it will cause the iron-on transfer paper to become too moist and curled. Place the iron-on transfer image onto your chosen product and wear it proudly for others to view.
