I'm an origami bookmark!
I'm an origami bookmark!

Got 30 seconds? Learn to make an origami bookmark--you'll never have to doggy-ear your book pages again!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

All you'll need is a pretty piece of square paper (told you this would be easy!). I usually use a 3 x 3 inch piece or 4 x 4 inch piece.

  2. Step 2

Fold the piece of paper in half so it looks like a pyramid.

  3. Step 3

Now, with the pyramid point on top, fold the left side up to the top.

  4. Step 4

    Same for the other side.

  5. Step 5

    Unfold your two flaps.

  6. Step 6

In the middle of your masterpiece will be a perfect diamond. Take one layer of the top point and fold in down so the point reaches the end.

  7. Step 7

Now, fold in the left side and tuck it into the flap.

  8. Step 8

    Same on the other side.

  9. Step 9

Annnd Wa-la! There you have it. You're very own origami bookmark. This should only take about 30 seconds to make, so you'll have a ton of them in no time. I know the directions can be kind of confusing to follow, that's why I included photos of each step. I hope they are easy to follow! If you have any questions, please just message me and I'll try to clarify for you!

Tips & Warnings
  • This works best with a thin or reasonably thin sheet of paper. Really thick paper or cardstock will make one sturdy bookmark, but it will probably sit funny in your book (unless of course the book has 10,000 pages in it)
  • Warning: You may become addicted to folding origami bookmarks with every square piece of paper you can get your hands on!

on 1/21/2009 I made this with a piece of my 3x3 memo paper here on my desk while I read your article. Simple! Good directions! I even decorated my paper first with the markers on my desk. This will be a great way for me to mark several places in reference books. 5 stars
