How to Change the Cabin Air Filter on a BMW Z4


BMW recommends that you change the cabin filter on your Z4 every 1 to 2 years. If airflow from the vents decreases noticeably, change it sooner. Follow the steps below to change your BMW's cabin filter.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Open the glove box door, and remove the trim on the heater side.

  • Remove the door straps and hinge mounting nuts. Then, remove the door.

  • Remove the four screws on the cover on the side of the heater. The filter is under the cover.

  • Slide the old filter out. Slide the new filter in.

  • Replace the cover and its four screws.

  • Reassemble the glove box door.
