How to Change Your Age on MySpace

Knowing how to change your age on MySpace can be important for a number of different reasons. For one, you may have accidentally entered in the wrong birthday when you created your account. Other reasons for having to change your age include curbing the amount of unwanted attention you're getting in the form of Internet romance, or you may want to bypass some of MySpace's automatic privacy settings. Whatever your reasons may be, it is important to know how to change your age on MySpace.

Instructions

1. Log on to myspace.com to begin the process (see Resources below).

2. Look for the blue menu bar on the top of the screen after logging in. It should have the words "Home, Mail, Profile, Friends" in a row just below the MySpace icon and the search bar.

3. Scroll your mouse over the word "Profile" in the menu bar until you see a sub-menu drop-down beneath the word "Profile" and click on the "Edit Profile" choice in the sub-menu.

4. Look below the word "Interests" in big lettering and find the row of headings that are labeling different sections of your profile to edit. The screen that you are on right now is the "Interests" section, which is the heading furthest to left of the row of headings you have to choose from. Click on the "Basic Info" heading, found two spaces to the right of the "Interests" heading.

5. Click on the drop-down menu three boxes to the right of the "Date of Birth" in order to change the year to whichever year that you would like MySpace to display as the year in which you were born. This effectively changes your age on your MySpace profile screen.

Tips & Warnings

• You can also change the month and day of your birth on this screen if you want to change your entire birthday as it appears on your MySpace profile.

• If you don't want people to see your birthday on your MySpace profile at all, you can go to "My Account" on the right side of the blue menu bar, and then go to the "Privacy" section and uncheck the option of "Show my birthday to my friends" for extra privacy.
