Cut your deer skin to the desired size or pattern shape that you will need for your project. Deer skin is fairly soft and can be trimmed to size by a durable pair of sewing scissors. You can lightly draw on the skin with pencil to make sure you will end up with the proper shape.

Run a needle through the skin near the edge where you plan on stitching together two pieces of deer skin. This material, compared to leather or cow hide, is relatively soft, and you don't need an awl to puncture the surface. Simply use a standard needle to make guide holes.

Select a size of thread to run through the holes and stitch the pieces together. Many people choose a thick, leather or deer skin to give a rustic look. However, you can use normal string; just keep in mind that thick fabrics like deer skin require a thick gauge of string to keep it from ripping.
