How to Make Fresh Rosemary Drawer Sachets

Freshen up a room by making rosemary drawer sachets and setting them in your clothing or undergarments drawers. You can also tie them to the hangers in your closets to give a nice fresh smell to your hanging clothes. Once you make these very simple, no sew drawer sachets, all you have to do is set them anywhere in your drawers, either tucked in the corners or in the folds of the clothing. They will give your clothes a fresh herbal smell. The following steps will show you how to complete this home project.

Things You'll Need

• Branches of fresh rosemary
• Small bowl
• Pinking shears
• Square of fabric
• Ribbon or some kind of string or yarn

Instructions

1. Gather branches of fresh rosemary. You won’t be using the whole branch, just the softest parts and the growth on the branches.

2. Make sure the branches of rosemary are dry. Strip the green off the branches by hand and put the greenery in a small bowl. You can smell the wonderful aroma as you strip the greenery off of the branches. It is fine to leave some of the softer, smaller parts of the branches. However, you don’t want big hard pieces because they will make the sachet too lumpy.

3. Cut a square of fabric using the pinking shears. Pinking shears will give the edge an interesting zigzag pattern and help to keep the cut fabric from unraveling. You can use any kind of lightweight fabric you like, such as cotton or satin. Even a tight weave lace will work fine. Don’t use fabric that is too thick, like a flannel or tapestry type or the smell may not permeate the drawer as easily. Don’t use fabrics with mesh that is too open either, as the bits of rosemary will fall through and make a mess in your drawer or in your closet.

4. 

   Open the cut piece of fabric and set it on your work space with the outside design down on the surface of the table. You are looking at the inside of the sachet that will not be seen once the sachet is finished. Then grab enough of the fresh rosemary to fill the center of the cut square. It will make a ball shape once it is closed, so put enough to fill it but still be able to gather the fabric and tie it with extra gathered fabric showing at the top, like a small gathered bag.

5. Gather the fabric and rosemary into a ball shape holding it closed in a gathered bunch at the top. Then tie the ribbon, string or yarn around the gathered bunch and tie it securely to hold it. Then tie a bow to give it a finished look. Now stick it in your drawer and let the smell penetrate the fabric.
