Instructions
-
-
1
Double a small piece of muslin to measure at least 4 by 6 inches.
-
2
Draw a 4½-inch line down the center of the length of muslin. On one end of the line, draw a 2¼-inch line centered on the end. On the other end of the line, draw a 1-inch line centered. Connect lines from each end of the 1-inch and 2¼-inch line to form a flat-tipped triangle. The 2¼-inch line is the bottom of the face. Round the corners to form cheeks and the line to form the chin.
-
-
3
Stitch on the line around the shape, leaving the 1-inch tip open. Cut a ¼ of an inch outside the stitched line. Turn the snowman head right side out.
-
4
Cut the cuff off of an old white sock. Cut a 4½-by-5½ inch piece from the cuff. Fold the cuff piece in half with the 4½-inch sides together and sew a ¼-inch seam allowance along the 4½-inch side only. Turn right side out for the hat.
-
5
Brew a cup of tea and submerge the hat and the muslin head for 20 minutes. Wring out and allow them to dry.
-
6
Stuff the snowman head firmly.
-
7
Tie a small piece of black embroidery floss around one end of the snowman sock hat, 1/2 inch from the end and knot. Slip the hat over the open end of the head and down as far as it will go. Fold a 1/4-inch cuff. Hot glue the hat to the head.
-
8
Cut a 1-inch end from the popsicle stick using scissors. Cut an arrow point on the cut edge of the popsicle stick, creating the snowman's nose. Paint both sides of the nose with orange acrylic paint and allow to dry.
-
9
Apply blush to the cheeks of the snowman pin in a sock hat, using the cotton swab.
-
10
Hot glue the nose to the center of the snowman pin face. Glue the rounded end to the center of the face and point the arrow tip towards two o'clock.
-
11
Dip the end of the toothpick in black acrylic paint and dot the eyes and six dots for the snowman's smile. Allow the paint to dry.
-
12
Glue the rusty star on the left front of the snowman pin sock hat.
-
13
Glue the pin back vertically on the back of the snowman's head, 2 inches below the top edge of the sock hat.

Tips & Warnings
When cutting the cuff, the ribbing runs along the 4½-inch side.
