Lavender is a lovely fragrance with aromatherapy benefits. You can use it in laundry sachets you keep for yourself or give as gifts. Place them in the dryer with washed clothes to make them smell fresh and clean. They are also great to keep in linen or clothing drawers, or in your car. They last a long time; however, if their scent seems to fade, crunch them in your hands to renew their fragrance.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Pick out four pieces of fabric measuring 5 inches by 8-1/2 inches. Fold each piece of fabric in half, inside out. Using your sewing machine, straight stitch 1/4 inch from the edge with coordinated thread on three sides, leaving 1 inch open (to fill later with lavender before closing). Snip off a bit of each corner. Turn right-side out and iron flat.

  2. Step 2

Using a funnel, fill each bag with 1/2 cup of loose lavender. With needle and thread, close the opening by hand stitching.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the four sachets with a pretty, wide ribbon. Add a gift tag to make a special gift for a friend. The same principles apply to larger sachets, but increase the amount of lavender accordingly. These will be appreciated as favors or gifts for many occasions.

Tips & Warnings
  • These sachets are a great project to undertake using leftover fabrics. Key them to different themes, such as a bridal shower or Christmas.
