How to Sew Baby Leg Warmers
With diapers to change and unpredictable weather it can be hard to choose the right pants for your baby from day to day. Another trendy and useful option are baby leg warmers. On warm days they make diaper changes a breeze. On cold days, they are perfect for layering under skirts or pants that gap around the ankle. Not only are baby leg warmers a perfect solution for everyday, they are easy to sew and make great gifts for new parents.

1
Cut your socks off at the heel. Take the foot of the sock and cut the toe off of each. Cut the rounded part of the heel off of the foot portion as well.
-
2
Discard toes and rounded heel area. You should have two long parts and two short rectangles made from the feet.
-
-
3
Cut through the rectangle part going up from where the toes were and finish where the heel connected.
-
4
Open up the rectangle and fold it from the toe area up to the heel area. It will be inside out. You are basically folding it in half the opposite way from where it was folded when you cut through it.
-
5
Sew the edges together inside out.
-
6
Fold the two ends of the sewn together piece so that it forms a tube. It will need to be right side out now.
-
7
Taking your long sock part, put it throught the small tube. Three unfinished edges will be together.
-
8
Pin the three edges together in four places so that, as you sew, the pieces will gather evenly.
-
9
Sew around the edges using a zigzag stitch. Be sure to get all three pieces as you sew.
-
10
Now turn your ankle part down. This finishes the leg warmer. It will look like a long sock with a cuffed ankle area at the end. This will prevent the leg warmer from falling off of very small babies and allow plenty of stretch for older babies and children.
