How to Reuse a Wooden Crate Box From Clementine Oranges
When you buy Clementine oranges from your supermarket, chances are they are sold in a wooden crate box. You may hate to throw it out because it’s a good, sturdy box, but you also have no idea what to use it for. Here are some useful tips on how to get some good use out of that box. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Put flip-flops in it. You can leave the box in your closet to hold your flip-flops so they are all in one spot and ready to grab when you want to wear them. You can also leave it by the front door for guests to put their sandals in when they come into your home if you have a "no shoes allowed" policy.

2
Create a fruit basket. Put fresh fruit in it that you purchased at a farmer’s market or even some from your own backyard and place it in the box. Put it in a shrink-wrap gift bag and tie it closed with a nice ribbon.

3
Hold beach decorations in it. Pieces of driftwood mixed with shells and a sea sponge will make a beautiful decoration, especially in the summer. You can put it on the front porch, on a table in the backyard and even in your bathroom.
-
4
Put plastic spice bottles in it. The natural color of the wood crate box will look nice in a kitchen, and the various bottles of spices will fit neatly inside. The tall sides will also prevent the bottles from falling over, no matter what size they are.

5
Keep dog or cat food organized. When you put dog and cat food away, especially small cans of food and thin bags of treats, they can end up falling over and getting in a big mess. Instead, put them in the crate box where it will be organized and keep everything from falling over.

Tips & Warnings
You may want to sand down the box a bit. There may be some splinters that could possibly get stuck in your finger if you brush against the box the wrong way. Try taking some sandpaper and going over the box lightly.
Make sure that you remove all the staples that could be attached to the box. Sometimes the mesh that goes over the top of the Clementines will be stapled to the sides. If you leave the staples attached on the box and inadvertently stick your hand in it, you or someone else could be cut.

I own a small daycare and we are painting the crates white and gluing white peg-style clothespins all around the crate. This makes a cute fence for a flower planter idea. We are making them for a mothers day gift this year. -
