Nothing says
Nothing says "Winter is here" like a toilet paper tube snowflake.

Toilet paper tube crafts are some of the easiest crafts to do with your young children, and they will last forever as reminders of the fun you had when the children were little. These toilet paper tube snowflakes are so simple to make that you will have a blizzard on your hands before you know it. Your child will enjoy using these handy tubes to make beautiful art, and you will enjoy the time the two of you spend together getting ready for the holidays.

Things You'll Need:

  • Toilet paper tubes
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • White glitter
  • Hole punch
  • White yarn
  • Glue
  1. Step 1
The toilet paper tube must be completely bare for this project.

Peel all the toilet paper off the cardboard tube. Once you are done with a roll, there are often scraps and remnants of paper hanging on the tube. Make sure that they are all removed before you move on with the project.

  2. Step 2

Cut straight slits down the sides of the toilet paper tube. Make at least five cuts so that your snowflake has five sections. Do not cut quite to the bottom of the tube, but leave about an inch of tube intact to hold the "arms" of your snowflake together.

  3. Step 3

Fold down the strips of tube. They will form a star shape radiating out from the round center of the tube.

  4. Step 4

Layer glue onto the strips. You can use an even layer or make designs on the cardboard.

  5. Step 5
You can also decorate your snowflake with rainbow glitter if you want a brighter snowstorm.

Sprinkle glitter liberally all over the snowflake. The glitter will stick to the glue and make your snowflake sparkle.

  6. Step 6

Thread a piece of yarn through the top arm of the snowflake. This will give you a hanger for your creation. You can either cut the hole for the yarn using scissors or by punching a hole in the cardboard with the hole punch.

  7. Step 7

Let your snowflake dry completely. This will prevent it from shedding glitter everywhere when you hang it up. Once it is dry, you are ready to bring winter indoors.
