Things You'll Need:
- Two Pieces of Thin Cardboard
- Decorative Paper or Fabric
- Glue
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
- Ribbon
- White paper
-
Step 1
Cut each piece of cardboard into the size of half of a sheet of the plain white paper you are going to use. For example, if you are using standard 8.5" x 11" printer paper, you would cut each piece of cardboard 4.25" x 5.5".
-
Step 2
Measure and cut the fabric or decorative paper so that it will cover each piece of cardboard. Adhere it to the cardboard using the glue. Alternatively you can use contact or other self adhesive paper.
-
Step 3
Cut several pieces of the plain, white paper in half so that they are the same size as the pieces of cardboard.
-
Step 4
Line up the pieces of paper and the cardboard so that it makes a book with two covers. Use the hole punch to make two or three holes along one edge of the book.
-
Step 5
Cut two or three small pieces of ribbon, depending on how many holes you punched. Thread a piece of ribbon through each hole and tie them into a bow or small knot.
-
Step 6
Write the date on the first page of the journal, and ask everyone present on Thanksgiving to write down what they are thankful for along with their names. Each year, date a new page and continue your new tradition. Read previous journal entries aloud at the beginning of your Thanksgiving meal.
