If you're tired of the usual Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns, but still want to incorporate pumpkins and candles into your fall festivities, try out these new mini pumpkin candle holders. These are a great way to bring some fall decor to your dining table.

From Quick Guide: Pumpkin Carving 101
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mini-pumpkins
  • Candles
  • Knife
  1. Step 1

Select several mini pumpkins at the local market. Make sure they sit still on a flat surface and do not rock or tilt. The flatter they are on the bottom, the better candle holder the pumpkins will make.

  2. Step 2

Draw a circle on the top of the pumpkin. It should be about the size of a quarter. Make sure the circle is centered on the top of the pumpkin, as you don't want your candle to be off-center and cause the entire candle and candle holder to topple during dinner.

  3. Step 3

Carve a hole in the top of the pumpkin, using a knife to trace the circle you drew on the top. Make sure the hole goes about halfway into the pumpkin, so there is enough pumpkin surrounding the candlestick to hold it up.

  4. Step 4

Slide a candlestick into the hole you carved in the pumpkin. The candlestick should be able to stand upright in the pumpkin and not lean in any direction. If the candle is loose in the pumpkin, simply wrap the base of the candlestick with tin foil and push the candlestick back into the pumpkin, making sure it is tight in the hole.

  5. Step 5

Set the candles in the pumpkin holders on the dining table. Light the candles and enjoy your fall-themed meal.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can paint the mini-pumpkins if you want to bring a different look to your dining table.
  • Be sure the pumpkin sits flat on the table before carving a hole into the top. If the pumpkin sits crooked, the candle is likely to tip over.
  • Don't allow young children to use the knife to carve a hole in the pumpkin. This could result in injury.
