How to Reuse Empty Plastic Berry Baskets

When you buy berries, whether it be from a farmer’s market on the side of the road or from your local supermarket, you usually end up with quite a few of small, plastic containers leftover. The initial reaction is to toss them in recycling. Instead of getting rid of them, consider reusing them.

Instructions

1. Use to store your small electronics that could get misplaced. Cover the basket with a favorite fabric, if you so choose. Items such as your cell phone, mp3 player and PDA can fit very easily inside of the basket. The basket is also big enough to store the charger for each of these electronics.

2. Save them for Easter and reuse them as an Easter basket. Tie a piece of thick ribbon through a top hole located on one side, then tie the other end of the ribbon to a top hole located on the opposite side. You now have an adorable Easter basket that you can fill with chocolate bunnies, jelly beans and peanut butter eggs.

3. Organize your pouches of cat and dog food. Instead of buying pet food packaged in a can, many owners opt to buy the food in a pouch. Unfortunately, they can’t stack one on top of the other and don‘t always stand upright. Smaller pouches of cat and dog food or treats can easily fit neatly inside of a basket.

4. Use it to hold golf balls in your car. If you happen to lose the original box that the golf balls came in or you just simply have no holder for them, store them in the plastic berry basket. When you put the golf balls in, use a piece of plastic wrap to cover them so that they don’t roll out.

5. Organize your makeup that is strewn all over. It’s small enough to fit on shelves, under the sink and even on a countertop. To make the basket look nicer, find a small piece of fabric that matches your room and cover the outside of it as well as the inside.

6. Keep your lingerie drawer in order. These baskets are great to store folded underwear, stacked bras and rolled pantyhose. Each type can have their own little section without running into the other. Since the baskets have holes in them, you can also customize it to the height of your drawer.

• Make sure to clean the basket thoroughly before reusing, as the basket could still be sticky and dirty from the fruit.
