How to Crochet Roses

If you already know the basic stitches in crochet, you'll have no trouble following this simple rose pattern. You can use these roses to adorn lapels, hats and purses, or sew them onto a pillow or blanket. There is no limit to the uses of these wonderful roses.

Instructions

      Form a loop and leave a couple inches of yarn hanging.

      Put the hook through the loop, yarn over and pull through, chain 1 (two single crochets, two half double crochets, two double crochets, and three triple crochets) all in the loop, Chain 3 and join with a slip stitch in the first single crochet. There should be a piece of yarn hanging; leave it alone for now.

      Chain 1 and put the hook into the loop from in back of the stitches; slip stitch between two single crochets, chain 3, slip stitch between two half double crochets, chain 3, slip stitch between two double crochets, chain 3, slip stitch between two triple crochets, chain 3, slip stitch after the third triple crochet, chain 3 and join with a slip stitch in the first 1 to 5 chain 3 loops.

      * ( chain 1, do 5 double crochets, and slip stitch ) in the chain 3 loop, repeat from* around and join with a slip stitch in the first 1 to 5 petals.

      Chain 1, * hold the petal toward you and put the hook in the back of the petal. Slip stitch around chain 3 of round 2 between the second and third stitches of the petal, chain 3 and repeat from * around, join with a slip stitch in the first chain 1 to 5 chain 3 loops.

      * ( Chain 1, 7 double crochets, slip stitch ) all in chain-3 loop, repeat from * around and join with a slip stitch in the first 1to 5 petals.

      Repeat Step 5, only slip stitch around chain 3 of Step 5 between the third and fourth stitches-5 chain-3 loops.

      * ( Chain 1, 9 double crochets, slip stitch) all in chain-3 loop, repeat from * around, and join with a slip stitch in the first chain-1 to 5 petals. Finish off.

      Pull the hanging piece of yarn to tighten the middle of the rose and secure it with a knot. Weave in the ends and you're finished.
