Instructions

    • 1

Cut the top from a pop can using the scissors. Discard the top.

    • 2

Cut down the side of the can to just above the bottom. Repeat and cut approximately every inch from the top edge down.

    • 3

Bend the strips down flat, creating the petals of the flower.

    • 4

Round the ends of the pop can strips for daisy petals or cut the ends into a point for the sunflower petals.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the second layer of petals using a second can.

    • 6

Spray both sides of the flower layers with the white matte spray paint or primer. Allow to dry.

    • 7

Cut the top from another pop can. Discard the top. Cut the side open, then cut the side from the bottom of the can.

    • 8

Sketch two leaf shapes on the side of the can and cut them out.

    • 9

Hammer four holes in the bottom edge of the leaves. Hammer four holes in the can bottom--like button holes for the flower center.

    • 10

Paint the two layers of petals yellow on both sides using yellow acrylic enamel paint for a sunflower. Allow the paint to dry. If making the daisy, leave the petals white.

    • 11

Paint the center of the flower yellow for the daisy or brown for the sunflower. Allow the paint to dry.

    • 12

Layer the two petal pieces slightly off center and insert the pop can center into the center of the petals. Poke the nail through the center holes as a guide and hammer through both layers of the flower petals. Sew craft wire through the holes, attaching the layers together. Twist the wire ends around the top of the 1-inch by 2-inch board.

    • 13

Paint both sides of the leaves green and allow to dry. Sew craft wire through the leaf holes and attach to the 1-inch by 2-inch board below the flower.
