How to Connect an HDTV Without Coaxial Inputs

Getting an HDTV signal to a TV set without coaxial cable inputs will require an HDTV converter box. With many HDTV options, like digital satellite systems, an external converter box or receiver is required. The two best ways to hook up the converter box to your HDTV are either with a component video cable or an HDMI cable. These connections were designed for HDTV signal transfer. Neither one of these cables carry the audio, so you will need to add separate RCA connections for the audio.
Component Cable
Plug the component cable into the HD converter box. There will be a red, blue and green plug that make up the component video cable. Simply match the colors on the output on the converter box with the color on the plug.
Run the cable to the back of your television.
Plug the other end of the component cable into the component video input on the back of your television. Be sure to match the colors on the plug on the end of the cables to the connections on your television.
HDMI Cable
Plug the HDMI cable into the converter box. The HDMI cable has one flat plug that will only fit into the HDMI output on the converter box.
Run the HDMI cable to the back of your television.
Plug the HDMI plug into the input on the back of your television.
