How to Change the Windshield Washer Fluid in a VW Jetta
Despite its renowned German engineering, your Jetta still needs routine maintenance to look and perform its best. Keeping your Jetta's windshield washer fluid levels up means you'll never be stuck driving with bugs or dirt in your view, ensuring a safe and pleasant driving experience.

Make sure your Jetta's off and its keys are out of the ignition.

Pull on the hood release latch located beneath the instrument panel and to the left of the steering column.

Hop out of the car and find the auxiliary release latch located beneath the center of its hood. Lift the latch to open the hood.

Prop the hood open using the prop rod resting on the outer edge of the engine compartment. Gently tug on the hood to make sure it's supported by the prop rod.

Find the blue-capped windshield washer fluid reservoir near the bottom left corner of the engine compartment.

Open the reservoir cap and place a funnel into the opening.

Pour the additional washer fluid into the reservoir until it's nearly full. Then, top it off with a few drops of fluid to make sure it's completely full.

Remove the funnel, close the reservoir cap and lower the hood.

Tips & Warnings
If you drive your Jetta in temperatures below 40 degrees F, fill the reservoir with windshield washer fluid that has antifreeze protection.
